Unilever Is In Talks to Buy Jessica Alba’s Honest Company: Report

// Last updated on //

Jessica Alba’s eco-friendly retailer, The Honest Company, may soon be taken over by consumer goods giant Unilever, according to a new report.

Unilever, the company behind popular brands like Dove and Lipton, is in talks to acquire the Honest Company in a deal valued at more than $1 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported Thursday, citing anonymous sources.

Alba co-founded Honest in 2011. The company’s mission is to sell sustainable, natural baby, beauty and household products. Since then, Honest has faced several lawsuits, including one that alleges the company’s labels are deceptive and another that says its sunscreen isn’t effective.

The acquisition would be Unilever’s latest big purchase since agreeing to buy Dollar Shave Club last month for $1 billion.

Honest and Unilever did not immediately respond to requests for comment Friday.
