Preparing for Obama’s interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts; Update: Obama comes out in favor of same-sex marriage

As Twitchy reported earlier, President Obama is giving an interview to Robin Roberts in which he is expected to “evolve” some more on gay marriage. Apparently, it won’t air live.

RT @brianstelter: The interview WON'T be aired live. But excerpts will come out immediately after. My TV is tuned to the ABC network.

Twitter weighed in on what to expect.

MT @buzzfeedandrew Obama's gay marriage change can't be an "evolution" b/c he already started w/ the position he's returning to in 96 #truth

— Charlie Spiering (@charliespiering) May 9, 2012

President Obama's views on gay marriage are a careful balance between his disgust of gay people and his love of their campaign donations.

— David Burge (@iowahawkblog) May 9, 2012

"Let me be clear: I think all gay people should be gay, if that makes them happy. Or married, or not. Or something." #p2 #tcot

— Gabriel Malor (@gabrielmalor) May 9, 2012

Just imagine the vast army of White House aides busily assembling straw men for Obama's gay marriage speech right now.

— John Hayward (@Doc_0) May 9, 2012

What other president has waited to announce a major policy shift in a TV interview?

— Charlie Spiering (@charliespiering) May 9, 2012

RT @SteveKornacki: I guess the moral of this story is that the Sunday shows really do matter

— Andrew Kaczynski (@BuzzFeedAndrew) May 9, 2012

It is also hilarious that Joe Biden is the one who “outed” Obama. Well, if he does finally admit having a stance one way or the other.

ABC giddily prepares.

ABCers with Robin Roberts at the White House: the top "GMA" producer @Cibski; senior DC editor @RickKlein; senior producer Virginia Moseley.

— Brian Stelter (@brianstelter) May 9, 2012

And many are asking if it’s really “evolving” if your position doesn’t actually, you know, change.

Will pro gay marriage people believe Obama really "evolved"/believes in gay marriage now or just fell in line?

— Seth (@dcseth) May 9, 2012

Is it still called evolution if you just arrive back at the position you had in 1999?

— Bethany S. Mandel (@bethanyshondark) May 9, 2012

Twitchy will monitor and update as soon as the interview is completed.

In the meantime,  more waiting. Very slow “evolving.”

We wait.. RT @ProducerMatthew: ABC News to release short clips of Obama interview around 3pm ET – @alexweprin

Obama's evolution on same-sex marriage is a classic example of Social Darwinism.
